Academic Buffy
For anyone who is not a fan (and for those who are that don't know about this), check out Slayage: The Online International Journal of Buffy Studies to see the extent to which Buffy has become a pop culture phenomenon worthy of academic study. There are some interesting essays and stuff like Lydia Chalmers' Spike Thesis. Lydia Chalmers was a minor character, a functionary of the Watchers Council who turns up in Season 5 ("Checkpoint") when the Council come to Sunnydale to investigate Buffy. While interviewing the Vampire Spike, Chalmers mentions that she did her thesis on him. Now some enterprising souls have written the actual thesis! BTW: The surname Chalmers has been given to character by the writers of this piece.
